The It Says I Say and So graphic organizer reinforces the importance of using textual evidence to arrive at a conclusion or an analysis. So too, it encourages students to react to smaller passages within the larger text. My students frequently become overwhelmed with larger texts, so it was nice to have them feel comfortable with specific chunks of the text.
